What happens if I miss a class?

Not to worry. The 2 classes each week will be covering similar content so as long as you can make one you will be fine.

If you have to miss a week just let the coaches know and we can bring you up to speed when you are back or book in a catch up class for you.

Can anyone join?

This is open to all adults, men and women.

Do i need to be fit or flexible to start?

🚫 You don’t need to be fit, flexible, or fearless.
✅ You just need to start. We’ve got your back.

✅ We go slow, teach step by step, and you’ll never be thrown in the deep end.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the world’s most effective martial arts, and this course makes it accessible, safe, and fun — no experience required. Whether you're looking to gain confidence, get fit, learn a new skill, or just do something for you — this is the best way to start.

Is it dangerous? Will I get hurt?

Our foundations course prioritises safety above all else. You won't be sparring with practitioners who could hurt you. You'll learn proper technique, tap-out protocols, and training etiquette way before any live drilling. We've run multiple beginner courses with zero serious injuries.

Im really keen to get in and spar/wrestle, when do i get to do that?

Hold up there just yet! There are plenty of other classes to get in and scrap - you can check out our full timetable on our website or socials.

But this course is designed for beginners. Sparring is a skill that is developed over time, and one that we will only start after a few weeks. At this early stage of your journey your sparring/wrestling will be limited to partners and positions/scenarios you are comfortable and familiar with, and most importantly ones that us coaches are comfortable that it will be safe and beneficial to all.

We start slow so no one is thrown in the deep end, making sure you have some skills, safety and awareness before getting into it.

What's the difference between Gi and No-Gi?

Gi training uses the traditional uniform (kimono), which allows for more grips and slower, more technical rolls. No-Gi uses athletic wear (rashguard and shorts) and tends to be faster-paced. Our course includes both - you'll experience the benefits of each

I’m keen to join, but not sure if I want to wear a Gi?

All good. You can just do the Nogi classes or also partner up with someone else not wearing a Gi for the Thursday Gi class.

But we recommend trying it out. Think of learning to swim and then trying to swim with a jumper and pants on. That’s what the Gi is like. It will make you stronger in Nogi and also give you time to work technique that is often lost in Nogi as athletic people can slip and explode out of positions. You can’t do this in the gi.
