Classes are Tuesdays 5.30pm and Thursdays 5.30pm.
Not to worry. The two classes each week cover similar content, so as long as you can make one you'll be fine. If you have to miss a week, just let the coaches know and we'll bring you up to speed when you're back — or book you in for a catch-up class.
Yep — this is open to all adults, men and women.
You don't need to be fit, flexible, or fearless — you just need to start, and we've got your back. We go slow, teach step by step, and you'll never be thrown in the deep end. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the world's most effective martial arts, and this course makes it accessible, safe and fun — no experience required. Whether you want to gain confidence, get fit, learn a new skill, or just do something for you, this is the best way to start.
Our foundations course prioritises safety above all else. You won't be sparring with people who could hurt you. You'll learn proper technique, tap-out protocols and training etiquette well before any live drilling. We've run multiple beginner courses with zero serious injuries.
Hold up just yet! There are plenty of other classes to get in and scrap — check our full timetable on the website or socials. But this course is designed for beginners. Sparring is a skill developed over time, and one we only start after a few weeks. Early on, your sparring will be limited to partners and scenarios you're comfortable with — and ones the coaches are confident are safe and beneficial for everyone. We start slow so no one's thrown in the deep end.
Gi training uses the traditional uniform (kimono), which allows more grips and slower, more technical rolls. No-Gi uses athletic wear (rashguard and shorts) and tends to be faster-paced. Our course includes both — you'll experience the benefits of each.
All good. You can just do the No-Gi classes, or partner up with someone else not wearing a Gi for the Thursday Gi class. But we recommend trying it — think of learning to swim, then swimming with a jumper and pants on. That's the Gi. It'll make you stronger in No-Gi and give you time to work technique that's often lost in No-Gi, where athletic people can slip and explode out of positions. You can't do that in the Gi.
